2 Reasons Why You May Need To Get Your Braces Back On

Health & Medical Blog

Braces are a wonderful tool that can allow you have to the straight teeth and perfect bite that many people wish for. However, because the braces have moved your teeth out of their natural positioning, your teeth may try to shift back. Sometimes, for one reason or another, you may need to get your braces put back on for a second time. This article will discuss 2 reasons why you may need to get your braces put back on.

The First Time Was Only Phase One

Often times orthodontist will do braces in a couple of different phases. For example, phase one will take place when you are younger and still have several baby teeth in your mouth. This is meant to help create spaces for the incoming teeth so that your teeth will not be quite so crooked. The phase one braces will be taken off when the teeth have been moved into place, and then it is just a waiting game until you lose all of your baby teeth and wait for the permanent ones to grow in. Once this is complete, phase two of your braces can begin. This is often the final stage because the orthodontist is now moving all of your permanent teeth into alignment so that your teeth are straight and free of gaps and so that your bite is correct.

Your Teeth Have Shifted

Your teeth will generally shift for two reasons—either because you haven't worn your retainer properly or because you had teeth removed, causing the rest of your teeth to shift out of place. In both cases, braces are going to be needed in order to put your teeth back to where they need to be. Thankfully, if you have only had a few of your teeth shift out of place, the amount of time that you will have to wear your braces will be much shorter than before. You also may only need to wear the braces only on your top teeth or on your bottom teeth, depending on which teeth shifted and how many shifted. The second time around it will be even more important for you to wear your retainer regularly after you get your braces off, because you know that your teeth are prone to shifting back out of place.

Whether you are getting your braces put back on for phase two or because your teeth have shifted out of place, the good news is that it can be done and you can get those beautiful straight teeth again. Contact a company like Arapahoe Orthodontics P.C. for more information.

Allergy Relief: You Have More Options Than You Think

As a child, I used to spend my days roaming through the woods. I climbed trees, smelled the flowers, and laid in the grass looking at the clouds. My love for nature continued through my teen years, but when I turned 23, I began to sneeze whenever I left my home. I could no longer enjoy my outdoor hikes and I started taking antihistamines so I could at least open my windows on warm days. My allergies got worse though and I met with an allergist who completed a variety of skin tests. I started receiving allergy shots and my allergist taught me about natural cleaning processes and sinus rinses. The injections and natural treatments improved my quality of life greatly. Even if you do not want to start allergy injections, you have a variety of options that can lessen your symptoms, and you should learn what these options are.
